Death Stranding: Director’s Cut is making its way to PS. Creator Hideo Kojima made an appearance on the Summer Game Fest stream and chatted about his next project. A trailer for the Death Stranding: Director’s Cut also debuted, with elements from Metal Gear clearly seen.
The trailer was captured on a PS5, and showed Sam “Porter” Bridges exploring a small stock room, dumping out a box of oranges and hiding inside just like Solid Snake. At the end, a title sequence popped up revealing the Director’s Cut, followed by a shot of a PS5 console. Host Geoff Keighley stated that a full reveal is “weeks away” and that the PS5 update will be out soon.
Kojima had discussed how COVID-19 impacted game development at his studio and teased some details about his next project, before the trailer was shown. He told Keighley that COVID-19’s reality felt similar to the world of Death Stranding, which has caused him to rethink his creative process. Kojima said he can’t say what his future creative projects will look like, but he looking into new ways of creating games.
