CD Projekt Red has released its latest earnings report, and with it comes some commentary about the cost Cyberpunk 2077 had–as well as what’s next for the company.
To begin, CD Projekt Red stated it remains “hard at work” on Cyberpunk 2077’s new version for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. They did note that this version is still on track to release in the first quarter of 2022 (January through March). CD Projekt added that a “major update” for Cyberpunk 2077 will be rolled out during this time.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are also currently in development. CD Projekt Red previously mentioned that The Witcher 3 is on track to launch in Q2 2022 (April through June).
Additionally, a Cyberpunk 2077 expansion pack is also in development, but the studio did not specify a scheduled release date for it. However, CD Projekt did provide a graph to show it continues to increase the size of the development team working on the expansion.

CD Projekt Red is attempting to “transform” its studio to one that make more game simultaneously. CD Projekt recently acquired Digital Scapes and The Molasses Flood to become CD Project Vancouver and CD Projekt Boston. Of course, no one knows what either of those teams are working on.
The studio made 144 million PLN in revenue for its third quarter, up by more than 40% compared to the same period last year. However, total profit fell to 16 million PLN, down from 23.4 million PLN. CD Projekt said this downswing was due in part to expenses related to updating an improving Cyberpunk 2077 after its rough launch, as well as covering the cost of “exploratory work” on new projects.
You can see just how much an impact Cyberpunk 2077 had on CD Projekt Red’s bottom line.
