Cyberpunk 2077 And The Witcher 3 Getting PS5 and Xbox Series X Versions In 2022

CD Projekt Red has announced that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 will be released in 2022. Cyberpunk 2077 will come first, launching in Q1 2022, followed by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in Q2 2022.

Last month, the company’s earnings report stated the initial dates for these new versions were “late 2021.” On an earnings call, CD Projekt’s Michael Nowakowski mentioned the date could fall into 2022.

Of course, the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions will take advantage of the new hardware, making them look–and hopefully run better–than the PS4 and Xbox One versions. Details on the specific enhancements or possible reduced load times have not been shared. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will come with all previously released expansions, along with some new content inspired by the Netflix TV series.

Those who already one the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 are eligible for free upgrades to the new versions when they release.

Cyberpunk2077 has been through a lot since its launch in December 2020. It was taken down from the PlayStation Network Store shortly after its release, and was finally allowed back on the store in June, but with a warning that players could still experience issues when playing on a base PS4.
