Call of Duty: Warzone players should be familiar with the texture bug only know as the “demon gun glitch” which distorts the player’s view. Well, this rather irritating bug has managed to creep its way to Call of Duty: Vanguard’s multiplayer.
This texture glitch (or demon glitch) turns weapons and operators into jagged messes of polygon distortion. Some of these visual glitches just affect the surface of a gun, but others can be more serious–taking up the who screen. However, Vanguard players report entire maps seeming to be covered in jagged polygons.
Reddit user, Fatal_Overflow shared a clip from a Domination match on Vanguard’s Das Haus, where you can see the clusters of shapes bursting all around the player. These types of glitches are extremely distracting, and can make it impossible to play.
Additionally, Reddit user Juujuubeanss posted a clip from a match on Shipment, showing their operator spawning with their whole view blocked by these demon textures. This player spawned and died a few times, tweaked their settings, but eventually just left the match because nothing would fix it.
Beenox, the PC developer for Call of Duty, tweeted awareness of the issue with Vanguard’s polygon demons. They offered some Nvidia cards a temporary solution of rolling back drivers to at least 472.84 The develeoper said they are “working hard to get it fixed.”
Unfortunately, it appears this issue isn’t solely a PC problem, as players on console seem to be running into it as well. Hopefully, Beenox and Sledgehammer Games can push a fix out sooner than a month from now.
This texture bug is just one of many that’s been plaguing both Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone. Players have even voiced their frustrations with the state of both games, leading Activision to release an official statement on January 13th with promises to fix the game.
In other news, Activision Blizzard is being bought out by Microsoft for almost $70 billion. This is even amid Activision Blizzard struggling with employee walkouts and lawsuit, as well as other investigations.
