Chrono Cross Remake Is Reportedly Ready To Be Announced

A remake of the classic PlayStation JRPG might be on its way. It’s being reported that Sony will be announcing the game, but that it might be a multiplatform release instead of a PlayStation exclusive.

Last month, VGC reported that PlayStation was going to reveal a remake of a “big game” around the holiday season. These claims were made by folk singer Ava. She had recorded an Irish language theme for the game, she explained to the Irish radio station WLR FM.

Now, XboxEra co-founder Nick Baker is claiming that the remake is actually Chrono Cross Remastered. The Chrono Cross name was seen back in September during the big Nvidia leak. Baker gave more info on his podcast, saying, “What else I was told—because everyone’s working under the assumption that it’s a PlayStation exclusive—I’ve been told that it’s not. The only word that was used was ‘multiplat.’ ”

Baker assumes that the remaster will appear on PC, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, since all of his sources mentioned it would be multiplatform. Baker also isn’t sure if the game will be supported on Xbox.

Although Sony doesn’t have any State of Play presentations set up, it’s possible the remaster could show up during The Game Awards 2021. That show starts on December 9th, and will have 40–50 games to showcase.
