Activision has major support plans for Call of Duty: Warzone moving forward, but unfortunately, a field-of-view (or FOV) slider is not a possibility for console.
The publisher stated in a blog post that a FOV slider is a highly requested new feature from the Call of Duty fanbase. However, it won’t be possible in Warzone on console–simply due to the impact it would have on performance. These performance issues would be more pronounced for those playing on the PS4/Xbox One. Since Activision wants to give everyone a good time on whatever machine, they decided to just not add FOV sliders all.
“Adding FOV on console in Warzone creates major performance impacts for old-gen console players. Our goal is for Warzone to be a performant experience on all platforms, so we do not plan to implement an FOV slider on console at this time,” Activision posted.
They also acknowledged that communication with fans over their concerns hasn’t been the greatest, but they are “reaffirming [our] commitment” to listening to these concerns.
“We also understand that we aren’t directly speaking to every community request in official communications. But we are reaffirming our commitment to listening to these concerns and ensuring vigorous and beneficial internal discussions that the developers have about them before solutions – whenever possible – are implemented,” Activision said.
The upcoming launch of Warzone Season 2 will be a “major step” in improving the experience of the game. The update goes live on Monday, February 14th.
Other big Call of Duty news recently occurred, when Activision officially announced Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 are in the works and are expected to release later this year.
