Call Of Duty Teases Armored Machines In Season 2 Of Vanguard And Warzone

Call of Duty Season 2 is set to go live on February 14th, and Activision is already teasing large-scale tank combat might be arriving to both Vanguard and Warzone.

In a vague post from the Call of Duty Twitter account, Season 2’s promotional art shows Vanguard operators using motorcycles and tanks. “The frontlines are getting reinforced. Get ready for Armored War Machines coming to Vanguard and Warzone on February 14,” Activision said in the tweet.

Although this is post contains little detail about what will actually be coming, one can speculate that Season 2’s content could include the return of Ground War mode to multiplayer. Ground War has been in several Call of Duty titles throughout the years, with its most recent inclusion to Modern Warfare (2019). This mode pits two teams of 32 players against one another–in large maps that typically contain tanks and other land vehicles–in Domination and Team Deathmatch type matches.

Warzone has also had armored vehicles in the past, with modes like Armored Royale. However, no specific mode has been revealed yet for the next season of Warzone.

Call of Duty: Vanguard sales for both console and PC did not meet sales goals for Activision Blizzard, as seen in their latest financial report. Infinity Ward has already teased its own Call of Duty game, which is expected to be the next game in the series arriving this fall. Despite Microsoft’s recent proposal to purchase Activision Blizzard, the Call of Duty franchise will continue to launch on PlayStation for the next three years at least.
