As is typical when Treyarch released a new Call of Duty, the Zombies mode is always attached. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is no exception. Today’s Zombies announcement noted that this version os something of a reboot, with a fresh start to the story and tweaks to the progression system.
Black Ops Cold War Zombies Story
While the story might be a slight reboot, it will feature characters and Easter eggs from other Call of Duty games. Grigori Weaver from the original Black Ops is leading a CIA team, Requiem, in exploring a WW2 bunker that has similarities to Nacht der Untoten from World at War.
New Progression and QOL Features
Activision stated in the announcement that Zombies will have cross-play and cross-get, allowing players to squad up no matter what platform or console generation it’s being played on. The Battle Pass will be shared across Warzone, traditional Multiplayer and Zombies. Loadouts will also cross between modes too.
Weapons and attachments in Zombies will also have rarity ratings, with greater damage output coming from higher rarity ratings. The studio says it’s aiming at allowing weapons to be better at killing zombies through later rounds, and make the Mystery Box more rewarding.
Perks have also returned, without limits on how many you can consume, including fan-favorites like Juggernog and Speed Cola.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War releases on November 13th, shortly after the launch of the Xbox Series X, the Series S and PlayStation 5. Preorders are available, and beta rounds are starting in early October.
