As is typ­i­cal when Tre­yarch released a new Call of Duty, the Zom­bies mode is always attached. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is no excep­tion. Today’s Zom­bies announce­ment not­ed that this ver­sion os some­thing of a reboot, with a fresh start to the sto­ry and tweaks to the pro­gres­sion sys­tem.

Black Ops Cold War Zombies Story

While the sto­ry might be a slight reboot, it will fea­ture char­ac­ters and East­er eggs from oth­er Call of Duty games. Grig­ori Weaver from the orig­i­nal Black Ops is lead­ing a CIA team, Requiem, in explor­ing a WW2 bunker that has sim­i­lar­i­ties to Nacht der Untoten from World at War.

New Progression and QOL Features

Activi­sion stat­ed in the announce­ment that Zom­bies will have cross-play and cross-get, allow­ing play­ers to squad up no mat­ter what plat­form or con­sole gen­er­a­tion it’s being played on. The Bat­tle Pass will be shared across War­zone, tra­di­tion­al Mul­ti­play­er and Zom­bies. Load­outs will also cross between modes too.

Weapons and attach­ments in Zom­bies will also have rar­i­ty rat­ings, with greater dam­age out­put com­ing from high­er rar­i­ty rat­ings. The stu­dio says it’s aim­ing at allow­ing weapons to be bet­ter at killing zom­bies through lat­er rounds, and make the Mys­tery Box more reward­ing.

Perks have also returned, with­out lim­its on how many you can con­sume, includ­ing fan-favorites like Jug­gernog and Speed Cola.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War releas­es on Novem­ber 13th, short­ly after the launch of the Xbox Series X, the Series S and PlaySta­tion 5. Pre­orders are avail­able, and beta rounds are start­ing in ear­ly Octo­ber.
