Call of Duty: Sea­son 6 offi­cial­ly begins in Black Ops Cold War on Octo­ber 7th, but Tre­yarch has already detailed the patch notes for the new con­tent. This includes weapon tun­ing for mul­ti­play­er, a new playlist update, and an adjust­ment to the D.I.E Shock­wave Won­der Weapon.

Multiplayer Weapon Tuning 

As is typ­i­cal for every Call of Duty sea­son, some weapon tun­ing has come along with the new con­tent. A cou­ple of Black Ops Cold War more pow­er­ful weapons will receive numer­ous nerfs, includ­ing the Mar­shal shot­gun-pis­tol, EM2 assault rifle, and TEC‑9 sub­ma­chine gun–all from Sea­son 5. 

The Mar­shal has been an over­pow­ered mess since its arrival, and got a max­i­mum dam­age range reduc­tion, as well as a reduc­tion and penal­ty to the Drag­on’s Breath attach­ment. Hope­ful­ly this will bring the weapon more in line with the oth­er shot­guns. The EM2 will get a reduc­tion in max dam­age and an increase in ver­ti­cal recoil con­trol. The 25.8″ Task Force Bar­rel for the EM2 also got a recoil con­trol penal­ty. The TEC‑9 got a slight increase to ADS speed and a major penal­ty change to the effec­tive range on the Burst Fire Repeater Muz­zle attachment.

Not every weapon is see­ing a nerf in this patch though. The Nail­gun is actu­al­ly get­ting a buff, as head and neck shots will do 2x dam­age. All shot­guns will also be receiv­ing a buff for the Ranger Bar­rel attach­ment, increas­ing the effec­tive dam­age range bonus.

Zombies

The D.I.E. Shock­wave Won­der Weapon will be able to be upgrad­ed with the Pack-a-Punch machine in all round-based maps and Out­break regions. The D.I.E. Shock­wave could only pre­vi­ous­ly be upgrad­ed with one of the ele­men­tal upgrades. This adjust­ment will make the weapon more pow­er­ful against boss­es and high­er-lev­el rounds.

Double XP

Sea­son 6 is kick­ing off with a dou­ble XP and dou­ble weapon XP event for both Black Ops Cold War and War­zone. The event will start on Octo­ber 8th at 10:00 am/ 1:00 pm ET until Octo­ber 11th at 10:00 am/ 1:00 pm ET
