Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone’s Season 5 Reloaded update will release on September 9th, just a few short days after the double XP event this weekend. Activision has unveiled what players will be seeing when the game goes through its huge refresh. You can check out all the key points from the Call of Duty blog post, below:
Black Ops Cold War
As far as regular multiplayer goes, Black Ops Cold War is only getting one new map when Season 5 Reloaded drops, and it’s technically not new. Zoo will be remaking an appearance, which a DLC map from the original Black Ops title. Objective game mode Demolition will also be heading to Black Ops Cold War during this update.
Zombies will be getting a new location for Outbreak, Armada, as well as a new world event called Black Chest. There is also a new feature called the Rampage Inducer, and a new Outbreak mode called Survival (arriving after launch).
“Appearing as an orange Essence canister in the starting area, the Rampage Inducer will temporarily ramp up the difficulty to Cranked-level proportions if all members of a squad agree to take on the challenge,” Activision stated. “Once activated, this canister will speed up zombie spawn rates and cause all zombies to sprint endlessly until Round 20, turning up the action until the second major round milestone is reached… or a total squad wipe long before then.”
On the battle royale side of things, Warzone players can expect new playlists for large-scale 50v50 Team Deathmatch mode Clash and Iron Trials, the later of which will be released sometime after September 9th. Activision stated Iron Trials is meant for the highest-skilled players, and is what they’re calling the “toughest battle royale mode” ever in Warzone.
Base health and health regeneration rate are increased in Iron Trials. “This is set to affect the feel of combat, time to kill, weapon, Perk, and Equipment viability as the entire game is effectively altered,” as mentioned by Activision.
There are no loadout drops, so everyone needs to buy their weapons–with the prices for everything also going up. The Gulag is open in Iron Trials, but it’s also seen a change, now focusing more on skill. “No akimbo. No semi-auto or fully-auto shotguns. Almost no tactical equipment. The only thing standing between you and redeployment is the agility of your trigger finger,” Activision said.
There will also be additional changes to environmental elements” and other “import aspects” throughout Verdansk. Though Activision won’t be announcing those specifics until later. Those who win in Iron Trials will get an exclusive Calling Card.
New Weapons and Operators
Black Ops Cold War and Warzone will both be seeing a new Operator and a new weapon. Hudson will be joining the ranks, right alongside the Sai melee weapon, which can be unlocked by completing a new seasonal event called The Numbers. New store bundles will allow you to dress up your character like Judge Dredd, with Oktoberfest and Motocross bundles arriving as well.
The Number Event
Starting September 21st, players can complete objectives for The Numbers Event to earn special bonuses like the Sai weapon or other extras shown in the roadmap image.
Those who take part in the event will get an instant allotment of $2,000 cash in Warzone, and for each mobile broadcast station activated during the event, you’ll get additional XP and other bonuses including a sticker, Calling Card, or charm. There are an additional nine challenges for Black Ops Cold War, and completing those will net you some more cosmetic rewards.
