DICE will officially reveal the new Battlefield game on June 9th, but it appears some screenshots from the military shooter may have leaked before the unveil.

The images were posted to Imgur. They show what might be the first look at gameplay, but more importantly, they seem to suggest the game is set in modern day or the near future as rumors have said. One of the pictures includes a disclaimer about pre-alpha footage. Even if these images are real, these may no longer be representative of the final product.

The Battlefield series hasn’t featured modern-day combat since 2015’s Battlefield Hardline.

EA has already begun teasing the new Battlefield game by sending messages to influences on Twitter.

Battlefield 6, or whatever the game’s name will be, will be formally announced on June 9th. It’s unknown if it will be shown at E3 2021 a few days later, or during the EA Play Live event in July.

A rumor has suggested that Battlefield 6 could come to Xbox Game Pass. If this is the case, it could potentially be shown at the Xbox briefing–however this is just speculation.

The biggest development team in the franchise’s history is working on the new Battlefield, with four studios developing it right now. EA management has stated the game could have more of a live service element than before.
