Battlefield 2042’s delayed Season 1 is coming up quicker than you think. Developer DICE has confirmed that Season 1 is expected to launch in “early June.”
This will be Battlefield 2042’s next big update, after the release of 4.1, which already arrived on May 19th. DICE will bring a “full overview” and the patch notes for Season 1 as it get closer to its release.
Back in February of this year, DICE delayed the launch of Season 1 as the studio was prioritizing getting the game in a better state following a rather disappointing launch. “This decision gives us the time to focus on improving the Battlefield 2042 experience while finalizing the development of our seasonal content to ensure that it all reaches our standard for quality,” DICE said at the time.
Season 1 is supposed to be the first of four seasons coming to Battlefield 2042 in course of a 12 month period. Those who intend on coming back or will continue to play until then can expect four new specialists, new maps, as well as some “completely new content” throughout the four seasons.
“We are committed to, and focused on, ensuring Battlefield 2042 lives up to our ambitions and your expectations–it’s a task we’re dedicated to accomplishing,” DICE said.
Although the game has had its serious struggles and launched in November, it still managed to place fifth in the top US sales charts at the end of 2021. While EA has not released specific sales number for the Battlefield 2042, we know they were not particularly happy with shooters figures.
