Battlefield 2042 Has More Than 40,000 Negative Reviews From Users On Steam

Battlefield 2042 has a “mostly negative” aggregate review score on Steam as of right now. Many users are stating in these negative reviews that the game lacks features and functionality, and it just being generally buggy.

There are more than 45,000 negative reviews out of the close to 67,000 reviews in total. This is a seriously large discrepancy and it’s unlikely DICE or EA are very happy with this outcome.

Battlefield V and Battlefield 1 were far more positively reviewed on Steam, with these games showing aggregated scores of “mostly positive” and “very positive.”

A lot of the Battlefield 2042 user reviews on Steam are outlining the reasons for such negative feedback: lack of single-player mode, no leaderboard or server browser for the All-Out Warfare mode, limited weapons, issues with vehicles, and much more. “This game had so much potential to be good and EA failed. They did the opposite of what the community wanted,” one person said.

This is not the first time DICE has released a game to a massively negative reception. Star Wars: Battlefront II had loot boxes in its early access period, which led to heavy criticism from fans, leading to DICE’s removal of the loot box system. Today, the game has Very Positive review score on Steam.

DICE has been updating Battlefield 2042 since launch and recently released a decent sized patch that fixed a bit of issues. Since DICE is leaning more towards live-service, so support for Battlefield 2042 will continue for quite some time. It’s also rumored that the next Battlefield title might be a full on free-to-play model.
