Ark 2, the sequel to the rather successful Ark: Survival Evolved, is heading to Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2023.
This was announced during the Xbox-Bethesda Showcase today, where fans saw a brand-new cinematic trailer and a release window. Xbox also confirmed Ark 2 will be available on day one through the Xbox Game Pass service.
Ark 2 was first revealed during The Game Awards last year and features the actor Vin Diesel as the main character, Santiago. The game was originally supposed to release this year, and will also star Auli’i Cravalho from Disney’s Moana as Diesel’s daughter, Meeka.
“Awakened on a primal world filled with dinosaurs & humans struggling for dominance, you must team up with legendary heroes to confront dark forces,” as the game is described.
While gameplay was not shown in this recent trailer, it’s been confirmed on the game’s Steam page that it will run on Unreal Engine 5 with third-person-only gameplay. Free-climbing, sliding, swinging, and parkour, along with “souls-like melee combat” can be expected in Ark 2.
The sequel will also feature dynamic world events and opposing PvE hostiles called the Aratai. It will feature user-created, cross-platform mods fro new creatures, items, gameplay features, and maps, along with support for modded unofficial servers.
