Alan Wake Remastered Patch Releases Audio Glitch For PlayStation Users

The latest patch for Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake Remastered unfortunately introduced a new audio bug for the PlayStation version of the game.

The patch, which initially targeted other audio sync issues (among other problems), launched across all platforms this week. The issue seems to only be affecting PlayStation versions of the game that are configured to use compressed or surround sound audio codecs. Thomas Puha, communications director at Remedy Entertainment, did provide some temporary workarounds on Twitter. Some users are saying that these workarounds don’t, well…work. So try them at your own disappointment.

Using headphones with the PlayStation controller or forcing the game to output compressed stereo PCM seems to resolve the bug. This is just the a temporary fix until Remedy can release a more permanent adjustment. The problem doesn’t appear to be happening for users on Xbox or PC.

Remedy recently announced at The Game Awards that the long-awaited Alan Wake 2 is currently in development. They will also be launching story content for Crossfire X early on this year, while continuing to work on a number of other projects. This includes a multiplay game set in the universe of Control, as well as a games-as-a-service title with Tencent.
