The first demo for Resident Evil Village is already available to try, but you’re going to need a PlayStation 5 to get it. If you do own one, just head to the PlayStation Store and grab the “Maiden” demo. This is not a piece of the game, and doesn’t feature the main game’s protagonist, Ethan Winters.
Instead it’s giving you a glimpse of what can be expected from the full version, without spoiling any plot points. Producer Pete Fabiano detailed the demo during the Resident Evil Showcase, stating it’s a standalone and features the “Maiden” as the main character. The demo doesn’t feature any combat or the new blocking system shown during the Village’s gameplay demo. It’s also unclear if Lady Dimitrescu (Tall Vampire Lady) will make an appearance.
The demo will have ray tracing and 3D audio support, that latter requiring the use of headphones. Players will have to rely “solely on their wits to make their escape,” instead of traditional combat. The demo can be found on the same page in the PlayStation Store as the main game itself.
The Maiden is one of two that will be available. Fabiano said a separate, new demo will be available during the spring and won’t be a PS5-exclusive, but for all platforms.
There is also a free PS5 and PS4 avatar that can be claimed right now, thanks to a redeem code provided by Capcom. The avatar features Lady Dimitrescu. Tweeted by Wario64, the code can be claimed on PS5, PS4 and PlayStation’s website. You can see the code, below:
The showcase also revealed a release date for Resident Evil Village, as well as announcing the game will be coming to both Xbox One and PS4.
